Basics of Buddhism

Archive photograph of the "Rissho Ankoku Ron" (Treatise on establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land)
Part of the “Rissho Ankoku Ron” (Treatise on establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land) presented to the imperial court on July 16, 1260.

The essays on basic elements of Nichiren Buddhism were originally published as a collection of study materials for the newly-instituted Study programme in 2003.  These have been superceded by study information available from the SGI-UK website’s Introductory Study Materials section, which also has other useful resources; and from the Soka Gakkai International’s Resource Center – Introductory Materials.

The 2003/2004 introductory materials are listed in the table below. Also available are audio files for the Rhythm and Pronunciation of Gongyo, in a recitation led by first UK General Director Richard Causton.
